Happy Independence Day!

July 4, 2018

Fireworks, family, food and fun!

Every year Greensboro has the Fun Fourth Downtown Event. We have been in the past but we haven't been in years, and Andy has never been. Andy was actually off this July 4th, which isn't usually the case, so we decided to check it out!

It was so HOT but we got there early so it wasn't too crowded!

The streets were set up with tons of vendors and food trucks. Live music and games for the kids!

We even ran into "Uncle Sam"

While waiting in line to take our photo with Uncle Sam we found something even cooler!
The guy behind us in line had a very unusual pet!
He was nice enough to let Hensley hold it and give us some interesting facts about his pet snake!

Wrangler had a cool tent set up with a mechanical bull. Hensley was a little scared to ride it but he did it! And he loved it!!!

After seeing all the vendors and playing outside it was getting HOT! We decided to walk down to our favorite little arcade/bar in Greensboro in order to cool off.

Hensley and Andy LOVE this place.
Boxcar Arcade is an amazing hidden gem for sure.
It has everything they need.
Video games,
Popcorn.
Beer!

They are in heaven!
We spent HOURS here on this day.
We played games and snacked and drank and enjoyed each other so much.

We were getting hungry and headed out to find food. Across the street from Boxcar is a brewery. We had seen it several times before but this time it was open and had a sign out front that they were doing tours! And tastings! Andy was very excited!

The name of the brewery is called Fainting Goat Spirits.
We had always assumed they made beer.
We were very surprised to learn they made gin, whiskey, and vodka.
The guys who worked there were so knowledgeable!
We learned the process and got to see all the machines used to make each type of alcohol.
It was really a learning experience.
Andy partook in the tasting while Hensley and I looked around the gift shop.
It is something everyone should really check out if you get the chance.

We were getting hungry so we walked a few blocks up to Jimmy Johns and had dinner.
We headed to the park and let Hensley run and play.
He met the sweetest little boy there and they played for so long!

The downtown area was getting extremely crowded. The fireworks are set off near that area and everyone was flocking to get a seat to watch them. We decided that we would head over to a little less crowded area to watch them.

After driving around a bit and finding the perfect spot....the storm rolled in! It got dark and windy in no time! Not what we wanted to see!
A few minutes before the fireworks were set to go off the rain came! 👎👎

We headed home and set off our own fireworks!

The fourth of July is always a special holiday. It's a good time reflect on something we take for granted so much, our freedom.
We had a great day!

Happy Independence Day!
